Tuthill employees joined with Team Rubicon for the sixth annual Run As One, 5k event on April 1, 2017. Veteran organizations Team Rubicon, Team Red, White, and Blue and The Mission Continues hold the event in honor of a veteran, Clay Hunt, who took his own life after battling with PTSD and depression.
Events were held in cities across the country on as a show of camaraderie and support for these issues. Tuthill employees in Chicago, Fort Wayne and Springfield, Missouri laced up on Saturday to join the thousands.
Tuthill in Springfield, Missouri hosted their event at Rutledge-Wilson Farm. About 150 employees, friends and family took to the trail on the sunny weekend, with 17 running the race. Awards went to Brian Ewing for first place in the race, John Sweeney for second and Mark Winters for third.
“The Tuthill stampede could be heard for miles!” said Chad Sitton of Tuthill, who is also a City Administrator for Team Rubicon. “As the dust settled we realized the weather was perfect, the barbecue was hot off the smoker and we were having the best Run As One ever!” Sitton said.
In Fort Wayne, the weather was brisk, but the team still put on a smile for their team photo. In downtown Chicago, Tuthill’s Pump Group in Alsip joined the corporate office in Burr Ridge at 31st Street Beach on Lake Shore Drive for the event.
"It was great to meet so many other people out to support our vets: Team Rubicon, Wounded Warriors Project, Red, White and Blue and the USO," Don Weger from Tuthill said.
