Tuthill held its second annual Team Rubicon Chili Cook Off at their facility in Alsip, Illinois on Feb. 2. Tuthill employees cooked 18 pots of chili to be judged in the competition. The event was held to benefit Tuthill’s cause partner, Team Rubicon, a disaster relief non-profit. Donations and a split the pot raised $626 in total for Team Rubicon.
The first-place winner in the chili competition was Andrew Berwanger, Tuthill’s marketing analyst. The runner up was April Martin, Alsip’s receptionist. In third place was Kathy Dziabala, Tuthill’s tax accountant.
Don Weger, Tuthill’s Team Rubicon coordinator was excited to see the participation boost this year with nearly double the money raised, more pots of chili and Burr Ridge members joining in as well.
“There were so many people who put a little extra in the donation jar. It was really nice to see," Weger said.
All three of last year’s winners were knocked off the podium. "We have some very serious chili chefs here.” Last year’s reigning chili champion, Carlos Bautista donned Berwanger with a red velvet crown.
“Many thanks to all the chili makers for their time, the judges and my team of helpers," Weger said.
