Tuthill Controls engineers have been responsible for many innovations in ball joint design,manufacture and use of materials. One of the most significant is the two-component ball joint,consisting only of a ball stud and housing. Cost was reduced so dramatically, ball joints began to be used for applications previously not feasible due to their relatively high cost. Another innovation is the pre-lubricated socket, which prolongs life and assures smooth, reliable operation.

R-G ball joints highly reliable, high value, low cost ball joints. The ball stud is securely, but precisely, held in the socket by a proprietary crimping process that forms the housing material around the ball. This process provides for consistent pull forces and the appropriate clearance for lubrication and long life.

Series SR-G ball joints include a retaining ring and surface hardened ball stud and housing. This design is ideal for applications with excessive vibration, shock loads or heavy wear conditions.

S and SS ball joints are designed for an application where quick connect or disconnect is needed at assembly or in field servicing. The SC spring clip ball joint is an inexpensive quick connect/disconnect design for low force mechanical linkages such as carburetor or fuel injection applications.
